As a form thanksgiving, I am planning a medical mission or outreach at my hometown (Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay) on September 5, 2007. In view of this noble cause, I humbly ask your financial or medical assistance for the said medical mission.

I'll be needing medicines like multivitamins, antibiotics, antitussives, deworming, anti-diabetes, and anti-hypertensive drugs. Sorry, for I know that I have approached you a little bit late, but I think there's still a chance.

AN OPEN LETTER TO MY FUTURE HUSBAND by Mary Beth Bonacci

Even though I don't know exactly who you'll be yet, I think of you often.
I wonder how you're living your life now. It matters to me, you know,
because how you live your life now determines the kind of man you're
becomin...and the kind of man I'll spend the rest of my life with.

Apparently, for some bizarre reason, manhood doesn't come automatically
for males. Some guys seem to spend their entire lives trying to "prove
their manhood"--by hunting, playing sports, driving fast...and,
unfortunately, by having sex. It seems rather strange to us women that
guys think having sex proves you're a man. To us, it just proves that
they've reached puberty. And we don't really consider that, in itself, to
be any great accomplishment. Becoming a man is a much more complicated
process.

The funny thing is, even in this day and age, most guys want to marry a
girl who respects her sexuality. A guy doesn't like the idea of his future
wife in the back seat with someone else, or of her being the subject of a
sexual conquest story in the locker room. They'll brag about girls like
that, but they won't marry them. They want to marry a girl, whether she's
never "done it" or done it and regretted it, who recognizes that sex
speaks the language of forever, committed love...someone like me.

But why would I want to marry someone like that...someone who wants to
marry a virgin, but spends his dating years robbing other girls of their
virginity so that he can prove his manhood? He's not a "real man" in my
eyes--he's a selfish, immature boy driven by insecurity, not love. And I'm
not interested.

I want moe from you. I want you to respect your sexuality as much as I
respect mine. I want you to be a real, confident man, not a wimp who has
to use women to feed his insecurity. A guy like that couldn't use all of
those women, and then suddenly love me. He may be "good" in bed, but he's
no good at loving.

I want you to learn to really love. Learning to love is learning to put
the other first. A guy who messes around outside of marriage isn't putting
the good of the other first. He's using a girl...speaking the "body
language" of permanent commitment when the relationship isn't permanent.
He's putting the girl at risk of pregnancy. And he's putting himself at
risk for some nasty diseases...diseases he can then later give his wife.
That's not making love. A real man loves women--all women--and wants
what's best for them. And he doesn't let his desires control his actions.
He controls his desires instead.

I want you to develop self-control. That's important to me. I don't want
to marry a man who can't control himself. Men like that make lousy
husbands. A guy who isn't used to saying "no" to sex isn't going to be any
better at it at 40 than he is at 18. I've seen women who worry every time
their husbands hire an attractive secretary. I don't want that. What kind
of marriage could I have with someone I couldn't even trust on a business
trip?

In the short run, I'm sure there aren't too many rewards for a guy living
this way. Society tells you that you're missing out on your "sexual peak."
Your silence during the locker room bragging sessions can seem deafening.
You may have even heard from the girls you date that something must be
"wrong" with you because you won't prove you're a man. It's just
irritating that no one else seems to know it, isn't it?

But somebody does know it. I know it. And in the end, I'm the only someone
who matters.

And no, I'm not as narrowminded as those guys who say they'll only marry a
virgin. Society isn't too supportive of virginity, especially male
virginity. I can forgive mistakes in your past. But i'm interested in your
future, starting now. When I meet you, I want you to be a man who has made
a conscious decision to wait...out of love for our future family and
commitment to our marriage. And I want you to be a real man, who's
developed the control maturity and unselfishness that waiting brings. They
may not be popular traits in the locker room, but they're popular with me.
They'll make you a better husband, and a bete father. To me, that's sexy.

I've abstained from sex all of these years, and it hasn't been for the
lack of offers. I've had plenty of opportunities, and saying "no" hasn't
always been easy. I'm sure it's not always easy for you, either. But it
will make our marriage so much stronger. Sex will be our gift to each
other, our exclusive "language." It'll belong to us, not "us and everyone
else we ever dated."

Thanks for waiting for me. I promise you won't regret it.

GRADUATION DAY

Sperm Count

An 85-year-old man went to his doctor's office to get a sperm count.
The doctor gave the man a jar and said,
"Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow."

The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave
him the same empty jar.
The doctor asked what happened and the man explained:
"Well, doc, it's like this - First I tried with my right hand, but nothing.
Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing.
Then I asked my wife for help.
She tried with her right hand, then her left, still nothing.
She tried with her mouth first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, and still nothing.
We even called up Arleen, the lady next door and she tried too, first with both hands, then an armpit and she even tried squeezin' it between her knees, but still nothing."
The doctor was shocked! "You asked your neighbor?"
The old man replied, "Yep. And no matter what we tried,
we still couldn't get the jar open."

INSTALLING LOVE

Tech Support: Yes, ... how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I've decided to install Love. Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support: What programs are running?

Customer: Let's see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and Resentment running right now .

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off?

Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, "Error - Program not run on external components ." What should I do?

Tech Support: Don't worry. It means that the Love program is set up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the "My Heart" directory. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming. Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files. Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running. One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you, God.

Britain's Got Talent

If not because of my friend at Bisdak Planet (choco), i won't be able to see or have any idea of this great TV show.

Britain's Got Talent is a British television show on ITV, and is presented by popular TV duo, Ant & Dec. The talent show premiered on 9 June 2007, and is broadcast daily, with a live final on June 17, 2007.

It is a search for Britain's next best amateur talent act, featuring singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, contortionists, ventriloquists and other talents of all ages. Anyone who believed they have talent was encouraged to audition. The audition process is a cross between The Gong Show but with the judges pressing buzzers instead of banging a gong, and also The X-Factor. The buzzers can however only be pressed once if the judge has seen enough, and when all three are pressed the act must stop.

The auditions also include the added twist of having to perform in front of a studio audience alongside the judges. This can create many boos from the crowd or cheers depending on their opinion of the act concerned. This is very typical of what was seen on The Gong Show, which is not suprising as the original unaired pilot with Paul O'Grady in fact also had the same title, and was also going to be a show made by Simon Cowell.

The series follows the formula of hit US talent show, America's Got Talent, and is the creation of The X Factor and American Idol judge, Simon Cowell. On 12 February 2007 it was announced by ITV the judges will be Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden. In a similar fashion to The X Factor, the show has an ITV2 counterpart called Britain's Got More Talent, presented by magician and former CITV presenter, Stephen Mulhern.

Why We Procrastinate

The reason we procrastinate may be more about confidence than perfectionism, a new study says.

Contrary to popular belief, procrastinators generally aren't perfectionists; instead, they're more likely to delay tasks they're not confident about, says researcher Piers Steel, PhD.

Steel is an assistant professor in the human resources and organizational dynamics department of Canada's University of Calgary.

"Essentially, procrastinators have less confidence in themselves, less expectancy that they can actually complete a task," Steel says in a University of Calgary news release.

"Perfectionism is not the culprit," he continues. "In fact, perfectionists procrastinate less, but they worry about it more."

Steel reviewed procrastination research from scholarly books, conferences, journals, and other sources.

His review appears in the January edition of the American Psychological Association's Psychological Bulletin.

Procrastination has been around ever since civilization began and "does not appear to be disappearing anytime soon," writes Steel.

So he boiled procrastination down to a mathematical formula.

The formula predicts procrastination based on a person's expectation of finishing a task, the task's importance, the person's desire to complete the task, and how soon the task needs to be done.

The formula suggests people are less likely to procrastinate if the task has to be done ASAP and they feel confident they are up to the task.

It suggests people are more likely to procrastinate if the task is less urgent, less appealing, or daunting to the person facing the task.

Other factors may also be involved, Steel notes.

For example, he points out that rebellious people may tend to procrastinate tasks given by authority figures; and depressed people may procrastinate due to low energy.

More research is needed on procrastination, and the sooner, the better, Steel concludes.

Yikes, i remember last year with my rotation at the Department of Pediatrics of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center that it is during these times, new cases of the dreaded Dengue fever is usually recorded... this morning i heard over the radio that 600 plus dengue patients were recorded last year in Cebu alone.

The Department of Health-Cebu is now getting ready for the information dessimination to the community.

Still fresh in my memories that the beautiful Island of Bantayan, particularly Brgy. Kintarcan were horrified of the said epidemic. I couldn't count the number of patients brought to us almost in shock or shocky, and some who are stable but will automatically go in shock. Most patients involve were elementary school aged children.

Allow me to share to you some facts about dengue so you yourself will know and will be able to spread the information laid here...

What is Dengue?

Dengue (pronounced den' gee) is a disease caused by any one of four closely related dengue viruses.

What is dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF)?

DHF is a more severe form of dengue. It can be fatal if unrecognized and not properly treated. DHF is caused by infection with the same viruses that cause dengue. With good medical management, mortality due to DHF can be less than 1%.

How are dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) spread?

Dengue is transmitted to people by the bite of an Aedes mosquito (female) that is infected with a dengue virus.

The mosquito becomes infected with dengue virus when it bites a person who has dengue or DHF and after about a week can transmit the virus while biting a healthy person.

Primarily a daytime feeder.

Lives around human habitation.

Lays eggs and produces larvae preferentially in artificial containers.

Dengue cannot be spread directly from person to person.
